What is Clicker Training ? by Alexandra Kurland
Getting Started : What should I teach my horse to do ?
First you will start with the foundation exercises detailed below.  Targeting is what
will teach your horse what the click means.  Targeting is a very useful behavior,
actually almost everything that we or our horses do could be considered a targeting
behavior!

There are no time limits to teaching any of these steps.  Each horse and their person
will need to take the time necessary to teach and understand.  And don't worry, if
you move to fast or skip a step in the training....your horse will let you know !

Once your horse masters the 3 foundation exercises of targeting, head lowering and
backing, you can explore in-hand lateral work .   Everything you do will positively
enhance your riding and mentally and physically benefit your horse.
What can I use for treats ?
Basically anthing that is safe for a horse to eat.  Keep it small, they only need
a small piece like a coin size piece of carrot or a tsp of grain as a treat.
